Fly to the moon (New Poem)

Even as far back
as I can remember
I wanted to be able
to stand up
on my own feet
and fly to the moon.

I wanted to be
able to jump off
the stage
and keep running
up the pier
until I could
run no further.

I could fly
ten pin bowls
with all the other
children
and kick sand
all over adult's
faces.

Hide behind
the pier's walls
and watch the sea
wave at me
like it was saying
nice one mate.

Instead I am
chained to this box
like a performing bear
and everyday
am forced up and down
in the same routine.

I will be forced
to do back flips
like Superman
then stand here
and be beat round
the head
by my husband
until
it falls off.

That's the way
to do it
certainly doesn't
come close
to describing
my emoitions.
